What's on in Nice in June?
Festival des Heures
Music and tradition go hand in hand for the Festival des Heures Musicales de Biot. This music festival has been happening annually for over 25 years and takes place in the Eglise Sainte Marie-Madeleine in the village centre. Organised by the music association "Les Heures Musicales de Biot" and the local commune, this festival has become an occasion not to be missed in the cultural calendar of the Alpes-Maritimes.
Fête de la Musique
Next up is the ever popular Fête de la Musique, an event celebrated across the whole of France on 21st June. Launched in 1982 by the French Ministry for Culture, the Fête is different from a music festival in that all the concerts and performances are free to the public and none of the artists are paid. Authorities waive normal licensing laws, allowing the revelry to continue as long as there are people with the stamina to enjoy it. It is definitely one of the not-to-be-missed events of the summer social calendar.
Jazz au Château - Cagnes sur Mer
Imagine enjoying a long summer night listening to the chilled sounds of jazz music in a beautiful chateau setting. If this sounds like your kind of thing then don't miss Jazz au Château in Cagnes sur Mer. Gather at the Place du Château every Friday to enjoy a wonderful evening of live music in an unforgettable venue. Various concerts ranging from jazz trios to vocalists and gypsy swing bands will be lighting up the night.
Ironman Nice
If you're in town when the Ironman comes to Nice, you can't miss it. If you're not taking part, definitely head down to the Promenade des Anglais to support the athletes as they race past.
Ironman 70.3
Nice has in recent years hosted the Ironman 70.3 World Championship and annually it continues to host an Ironman 70.3 event on the same course. The competitors start by swimming in the waters of the Baie des Anges and then tackle the cycling and running courses along the Promenade des Anglais.
Things to do
Racing cars
Go along to the start of the Jean Behra rally, which is a three day rally for cars over 30 years old, and you'll see some beautiful old cars getting ready to race.
Promenade en Fête - Cagnes sur Mer
The seafront of Cagnes sur Mer comes alive for one night only in August when the town celebrates the annual Promenade en Fête. The whole of the seafront boulevard is pedestrianised for an evening and the town hosts a party with live music, DJs, free entertainment, market stalls and a fireworks display. The party starts at 20:30 with fireworks at 22:30. There will be various stages set up along the promenade for music.
Bars and clubs
One thing's for sure, you won't have far to go to find a cold glass of rosé to take the heat out of the day, whatever you've been up to. A variety of bars, beach clubs and port side restaurants will happily welcome you with live music, acoustic sets and much more.
The beach club is a quintessential South of France experience, and you'll find there's plenty of choice, from the uber-swanky to the family-friendly ones. They range in character and price, so pick one that suits your tastes and budgets.
