Seagull season in Nice!
Time to watch those chips on your lunch plate
With the return of the sunshine, the reopening of cafes and beach clubs and start of the tourist season, comes the breeding season of the seagull...
During the spring and summer months the seaside resorts of the Cote d'Azur are plagued by gulls who are becoming increasingly aggressive. Having arrived in greater numbers in recent years, the residents of Nice finally said enough is enough in 2015 and demanded that local authorities take action.
Further along the coastline in the Gard region, the town of Grau du Roi has had a sterilisation programme in effect for the last twenty years. Eggs are coated in mineral oil to prevent the chicks inside from hatching.
Let's hope that Nice takes note and steps up to take action against this menace of the skies before they take off with your lunch!
