Plans to Solve Seagull Problems in Nice
Growing population of seagulls is becoming more aggressive
Much bigger than their 'flying rodent' buddies, the pigeon, seagulls have been reeking havoc in seaside cities across Europe for years.
But residents in the city of Nice have finally had enough and have called for local authorities to intervene and save their city from the attack of the seagull! Amongst recent reports have been details of attacks on small dogs and cats, as well as the usual swooping down to steal food from restaurant and cafes.
Local authorities are planning a sterilisation campaign which would take place next year. For the moment a city-wide consultation will be launched to identify where in particular action is needed. Seagulls are a protected species and the préfecture has to give approval if eggs are to be sterilised next spring.
