Air France Celebrates 70 Years of Their Nice-Paris Route
The first flight took off from Paris on 17th October 1945, bound for Nice
The flight, operated daily on a Junker 52 aeroplane, lasted 5 hours 30 minutes. Air France set up its check-in area in the “Emilie” villa, the only building located near the runways.
Fifteen years later, passengers travelled to the capital on board a caravelle for a flight’s duration of 1 hour 15 minutes. The key phases in the development of Nice-Côte d’Azur airport have supported an exceptional growth in Côte d’Azur traffic – 34,230 passengers in 1946 to an astonishing 12 million passengers today, including 3.3 million on the Air France-KLM Group’s routes.
This winter, with 23 daily flights to Paris (17 to Paris-Orly West and 6 to Paris-Charles de Gaulle) Air France is giving its customers access to destinations around the world. With its partners KLM and Delta Air Lines, the Company operates over 188 weekly flights that departure from Nice-Côte d’Azur.
